Rainbow Sessions: The Last Photos of your Beloved Pet,
Before Saying Goodbye - I Come to You

“Nobody can fully understand the meaning of love unless he’s owned a dog. A dog can show you more honest affection with a flick of his tail than a man can gather through a lifetime of handshakes.” – Gene Hill.

If you have ever lost a pet then you already know this: saying goodbye is never easy.

But there’s a time when we have to say farewell to our furry friends. They know how to live and love in a better way than us (most of the time), and when we understand that their end is coming close, as their guardians, we can get the utmost feeling of having to give something back to them.

But how do we give back something to the animal that dedicated its whole life to loving and caring for us?

It's not an easy question. Apart from care and companionship, there's another way we can give love back, every little bit we can. By creating memories of our pets so they live on in our heart forever, even after they've gone.

What is a Rainbow session?

My personal view about the topic is that the best way to love our pets after they pass away, is our memories. We cherish those memories and keep them in a place deep inside our hearts, and memories of loved ones become the most valuable things we own.

But memories get blurry, eventually. If you think your old friend is reaching his final days, is starting to weaken, or lose the fight against disease, getting a photo session of him can be an excuse to go out together, to have a different day, give them lots of treats, let them play, lick, run, be free and happy, for one of the last times they’ll be able to do it.

But if they're not able to do that, spending time quietly together is the next best thing. And you can create beautiful memories in this way just the same.

To save those memories, we offer a rainbow photo session. To allow urgent photo shoots for owners saying goodbye, these sessions get top priority against all other regular sessions as we understand that your pet’s health condition could decrease rapidly. We also offer a discount on the session fee for rainbow sessions.

“The pain passes, but the beauty remains.” – Pierre Auguste Renoir

How Do I Book a rainbow Session?

Most photographers stay away from rainbow sessions, as they don’t like to be in that spot where the animal won’t have that much energy to enjoy, or pose, and because rainbow sessions can come with a degree of sadness. But I don’t see it that way.

To me, the first thing is how the dog will feel with it, I wouldn’t attempt a photo shoot of a dog that is too weak to handle it, but if your dog still has some spirit left, and can still enjoy being with you, playing and being pet by you, they can handle a photo shoot, especially since we'll give them lots of treats and love while doing it.

It would surprise you how much spirit dogs have in their final days, they are love machines, it doesn’t matter how old they are, they will always do silly, happy stuff to make you smile. It doesn’t matter how bad they feel, they still wag their tails when they hear your voice.

I can’t just turn away from that. So if you want to cherish your last memories with your dog, by having a photo session with them, I’m so happy to do it as I really feel that having beautiful photos of our pets before they leave us is a must. And I want to help people with that in any way that I can.

If you feel like your pet may be facing his last days, give me a call straight away on 0439 906 523 and we’ll book in a time for you and your best friend.

Michelle has taken photos of my poodle Georgia and I am very pleased with them as now my beloved pet has passed on and I still have the most beautiful photos for my keepsake.
